Hi Folks,

We have plenty to celebrate!! Winners of the TVCL 1st Division Championship. Winners of the Ellam Trophy (Surrey 2nd Division championship), possible winners of the TVCL Division 3 Championship and we are still in the TVCL Knockout! (Webmasters note: We have also not yet celebrated winning the TVCL Knockout for last season as it was only decided in September 2015.)

Therefore the club has decided to have TWO celebrations.

The FIRST celebration for our Chess Players is to be held at the Coronation Hall Pub in Surbiton on Thursday 2nd June at 8.00pm. We have arranged for an area left of the entrance to be cordoned off for our use. It can seat 20 - 40!! We start the evening with one of Weatherspoons famous currys. This will be followed by an evening of silly chess games.

On offer:-

1/ Stronger player and very weak player partnered against another pair of similar strength. Players play alternate moves.

2/ 5 minute chess.

3/ Hand and Brain chess.

Plus any other form of chess that you can think of.

Please let me know if you are coming so that we know how many boards sets and clocks to bring.

The SECOND celebration will be held one SUNDAY in June or July (date yet to be agreed) at FIRCROFT.

We shall have an afternoon picnic in the gardens - each family or individual to bring their own food. The picnic is a FUNDRAISER for the FIRCROFT TRUST CHARITY. The charity does outstanding work aiding the mentally handicapped and those recovering from mental illness. The picnic is for the members, their partners, their families and children and we hope as many as possible will attend. More details to follow.
