Michael Basman - FIDE Lifetime Achievement Award

On April 2nd 2013 there was a gathering at number 11 Downing Street. With the Chancellor George Osborne in attendance, the closing ceremony of the wonderful FIDE Candidates Tournament held in London took place and Magnus Carlsen grabbed the trophy that signified he had earned the chance for a tilt at the world title.

At the same event FIDE made a lifetime achievement award to Michael Basman recognizing his fantastic efforts over the years topromote and encourage junior chess in schools via the UK Chess Challenge. Well done Michael!
