Summer Barbeque
Surbiton Chess Club held a Summer Barbeque on June 20th in the garden of Fircroft.
As many people were this year, we were blessed with good weather. There was an excellent turnout of our club members with their spouses, partners and children.
Many thanks to the many people who chipped in to lend a hand with food purchasing, preparation, cooking and cleaning up at the end. Fircroft were very happy to see how clean and tidy we had left their premises.
Thanks also to those who left charitable contributions for the Fircroft Trust which they were very pleased to receive.
There was only one small disappointment on the day that manifested itself in an absence of macaroons. Evidently it is not good practice to make these type of foodstuffs several weeks in advance of when they are to be consumed!
